We have been learning how instruments in the orchestra can tell a story. We have talked about what a composer is and how they write music! We are actively listening for the "characters" the instruments to play the parts in the story by Prokofiev. In a "real" orchestra concert we would not see a video.

Strings Woodwinds Brass Percussion We are listening to Benjamin Brittens - Young Peoples Guide to the Orchestra K-1 are using Melody Street and learning about instruments as well ! http://www.nekoproductions.com/melody-street/ We have been working very hard at studying and singing songs about various music concepts words. We are learning their meaning and how important they all are to making music so special!
Tempo Dynamics Crescendo and Decrescendo Presto - very fast Forte/F - loud gradually louder and gradually softer Largo - very slow Piano/P - soft We have also been discussing the Treble Clef and being introduced to our staff of five lines and 4 spaces! 4th graders will be leading Blast Off on September 12th at 8:00 am in the gym. 4th grade parents are invited to stay and hear their children singing and presenting our Patriotic Celebration!
We have been working very hard on Patriotic songs to sing in our first Blast Off which was held on August 22 in the gym. Our study of Frances Scott Key has helped us to understand the history of our National Anthem. Welcome back to school! It's going to be a great year in music! We have so many fun songs to sing and so much to learn. Each month a particular grade level will be performing during our all school BLAST OFF celebrations in the gym.
